Reaching out to International – Global Cooperations

In Edmonton, I also met with reps of the Alberta Council for Global Cooperation (ACGC). This is a subsector that I find does not always see itself or is seen by the rest of the sector as part of the larger charities and nonprofit sector. In Alberta, there are 65 members of the provincial association. These organizations contribute to healthy communities around the world. In addition many also have a strong local connection. It was clear in our meeting that they are very interested in linking with other groups and certainly share the concerns about many of the same issues: human resources, funding, etc.

We hope to be able to engage more international/global cooperation groups as we move this work forward. Thoughts on how this could be done would be welcome!
